Abstract(in English) | As stated in the international safety guidelines, whole-body averaged specific absorption rate (SAR) and peak spatial average SAR are used as a metric for human protection from far-field and localized exposures, respectively. The IEEE standard C95.1-2005 indicates that the upper boundary frequency range over which whole-body averaged SAR is deemed to be the basic restriction has been reduced from 6GHz to 3GHz because radio-wave energy is absorbed around the body surface with the increase of the frequency. However, no rationale is given for supporting that description. It is of interest to investigate the maximum temperature elevation in addition to the core temperature even for far-field exposure. In this study, with anatomically-based human models of child and fetus, the SAR and temperature elevation are computed for plane-wave exposure from 30MHz to 6GHz. The result of the whole-body averaged SAR was correlated with core temperature elevations for frequencies below 2GHz. The peak 10-g averaged SAR was correlated with the maximum body and skin temperature elevations without extremities and pinna over the frequencies considered even for plane wave exposures. This tendency was confirmed even for all studied phantoms including child model and fetus in pregnant model. |
