Abstract(in English) | Visible light communications (VLC) using LEDs have been rapidly developed. Nevertheless, current VLCs cannot transmit large data with high-speed because of limited high-frequency operation of LEDs, i.e. generally up to about 10[MHz]. In this study, we introduce OFDM to enhance transmission capacity of VLCs under the limited frequency range. Furthermore, an adaptive modulation technique is also employed for the OFDM. It selects an appropriate modulation for each subcarrier of the OFDM according to frequency characteristics of LEDs. As the early stages of our study, a transmission capacity of 9[Mbps] has been demonstrated using a simple VLC system with inexpensive LEDs. |
