Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Multi-frame motion estimation (MFME) is used in H.264/AVC to enhance the accuracy of motion estimation. However, it requires high computational cost to search the best macro block among all possible reference frames. In this study, we propose a fast MFME method in which the number of reference frames and their referring order are adaptively changed. Experimental results show that the proposed method reduces the computational complexity of the conventional MFME with slight loss of coding efficiency.
