Abstract(in English) | A cognitive radio technique is attracting a lot of attentions as a promising countermeasure against the explosive increase of mobile traffics expected for the next decade. Still, almost all studies on the cognitive radio technique aim the use of White Space (WS) in TV bands, which seems to be feasible by using up-to-date techniques. In this study, we investigate a further possibility of the cognitive radio technique, which aims the use of WS in Public Cellular Networks (PCNs). We first clarify the difficulties specific for the PCN-WS usage and propose a novel sharing scheme with Cognitive-radio Supportive Accommodation Systems (CSASs) to overcome the difficulties. The main concept of the scheme is that CSAS, which is an primary system operating on a frequency band, accept to have a part of functionalities required for the spectrum sharing with CRSs. Additional processing burdens and implementation impacts to introduce the scheme are inevitable, and such burdens and impacts should be reduced as possible. Then the spectrum sharing scheme is designed to use signal formats of the PCN for inter-system control signals to reduce the burdens and the impacts. In this paper, the developed prototype devices equipped with the proposed sharing scheme are outlined, and we show some primitive evaluation results obtained by an indoor testbed with the prototype devices. |
