Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Quantum dot lasers proposed in 1982 have been successfully developed using advanced crystal growth technology technologies and device physics. In the fiscal year of 2011, 550,000 chips were shipped to telecom market for 1.3μm access network systems. In this paper, we will give a historical overview on quantum dot lasers as well as the outlook for the future.
