Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Conversation usually has a context or a perspective with respect to which the content of the discourse can be evaluated. However, the context and perspective is not always uniform. In English, mdexical such as I, here, now, are actual context of speech-dependent expressions. But in some language, some indexical may depend on the context of a reported speech act. In this paper, I will show that Japanese includes dedicated implementations to indicate shifts in perspective/context from the actual speech act to the reported speech act. More specifically, some type of tense-morpheme and quotations can shift the contextual parameter along with the attitude holder-author argument shift.
