Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, the mobile data traffic is increasing rapidly with new market of smart phone increasing. Passing the mobile data traffic to public wireless LAN (WLAN) is considered as a possible way to ease the load of mobile network. Operators deployed several hundred thousand WLAN access points (APs). With these APs, the power consumption will also become larger and cause new environment problem. Thus, we study a sleep control method to reduce power consumption in WLAN APs. In this paper, we propose a sleep control method with traffic aggregation, which accommodates sparse traffic to a specify AP, and let other APs can enter sleep state longer. Using computer simulation, we will show the power saving effect of our method, which reduces power consumption without degrading QoS.
