An approach to embedded system implementation of multi-view video decoding

Abstract(in English) A set of techniques for high-speed decoding are reported to achieve multiview video stream on mobile devices. The decoding process is simplified with acceptable degradation of the image quality. Concretely, the proportion of decoding main process is analyzed for H.264/MVC streams, and decoding process of the deblocking filter and the motion compensation is simplified to mitigate large operation workload. Moreover, the technique for optimizing the deblocking filter and the motion compensation for mobile devices is also implemented. By combining the proposed techniques, phased reduction of operation workload can be achieved down to approximately 25% of nomal decoding. The effect of each technique on image quality is described.
