Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently researchers have built wind display systems to improve the presence in VR, but in most systems they arrange wind sources rather sparsely around the users. In order to appropriately set up wind sources in a wind display, it is important to know the properties of perception produced by the wind. So far we have measured the resolution of wind direction perception at frontal and lateral parts of the head and found large individual difference among subjects. We suspected one of the reasons of this difference might be that the subjects estimate the direction of the wind, depending on which part in the face the wind reaches. In this study, we measured the effect of the position of stimulated parts on the just noticeable difference of wind direction perception.
