Real-time Corner and Polygon Detection System on FPGA

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a new corner detection algorithm and a polygon detection method based on the corner detection algorithm. The corner detection algorithm is designed so that it can detect the directions of all line segments crossing at the corners, and this feature makes it possible to detect polygons efficiently on FPGAs. We have implemented the circuit for the corner detection and the polygon detection on Xilinx XC4VLX160. Its performance is fast enough for real-time applications.
