Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Finite amplitude ultrasonic waves were transmitted into fastened bolt and second harmonic ultrasonic components generated from the bolt were detected. The relation between torque and second harmonic component were considered. Second harmonic components increased as torque increased. In the smaller torque than the optimal torque of the bolt, second harmonic components were generated by contact acoustic nonlinearity in the surface of the screw of a bolt and a nut. In the larger torque than the optimal torque, second harmonic components were generated by both the contact acoustic nonlinearity and the plastic deformation of the bolt and the nut. Moreover, the relation between the sound pressure of the ultrasonic waves and second harmonic components were considered. The variations of the second harmonic components in the larger torque were smaller than the variations in the smaller torque when the sound pressure was increased. Second harmonic ultrasonic components can be useful for evaluation of the bolt fastening.
