Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper reviews the latest key technologies on optical access systems reported in OFC/NFOEC 2012. Followed by completion of 10G-EPON and XG-PON standardization, related research activities for more flexible access network, such as longer reach / higher split-ratio with higher loss budget and larger capacity by hybrid WDM/TDM-PON, were being energetically pursued. In addition, this year's studies focused on various kinds of PON technologies of TDM-PON, WDM-PON, OFDMA-PON, and OCDMA-PON for next-generation high speed post 10Gb/s PON systems, that is NG-PON2. Further progress can be expected in the future.
