Experimental study of Reference Signal Interference Canceller for Multi-BS Cooperative Transmission Control

Abstract(in English) CoMP (Coordinated Multi-Point transmission/reception), a technology multiple BSs cooperatively transmit and receive signals, is attracting much attention. We have proposed multi-BS cooperative transmission control, in which the signal transmission of a BS giving strong interference to the surrounding cells is adaptively stopped in order to improve cell-edge user throughput. We also implemented this technology on 3GPP Release-8 LTE-compliant BS equipment. In this case, when the signal transmission of a BS is stopped, only the data signal transmission is stopped and the reference signal transmission cannot be stopped. Therefore, the users in the surrounding cells still receive interference from the muted BS. To solve the issue, we proposed a reference signal interference canceller and clarified the performance improvement by computer simulation. In this paper, we implemented the proposed interference canceller on a UE and clarified the performance of the multi-BS cooperative transmission control through a lab experiment.
