Abstract(in English) | This paper introduces field tests of a multi-hop inter-vehicle communication system with autonomous white space channel selection, performed at Misato Town of Miyazaki Prefecture from January to February 2012. Summary of field tests, adaptive channel selection function and sensing function are briefly explained. In our experiments, multiple moving vehicles autonomously establish a multi-hop wireless network entirely over the white space. For doing so, vehicles agree on control and data channels autonomously, while also observing the channel occupancy via spectrum sensing. If a primary system is detected in any of the borrowed channels, vehicles switch to another vacant channel without disrupting the ongoing multihop session. In the experiments, we employed two types of spectrum sensing - one for vacancy detection over the entire set of channels, and the other for the detection of the probabilistic appearance of a primary signal on the currently used channel. All of the functions described here are implemented onto the general purpose software defined radio platform USRP N210 integrated with an application that sends real-time vehicle speed and sudden break information to the following vehicle(s). |
