Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Fiber-optic communications are not influenced from electromagnetic environment because the frequency range currently used by fiber-optic communications is sufficiently high against the frequency range in which we should consider electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Moreover, fiber-optic communication system does not affect electromagnetic environment because the relative dielectric constant of the materials composed with non-metallic optical cables is sufficiently small than the constant of the materials composed with the metallic cables. Therefore, fiber-optic communication technologies have been widely used as the radiation sources, the observation of lightning surges, the measurement of electric fields, and the measurement of electro-magnetic field. As the application examples of fiber-optic communication technologies to EMC measurement, this report describes the observation system of induced lightning surges, the spherical dipole antenna, the disc-corn antenna, the imitated equipment, the electric field sensor using optical modulators, and the observation system of direct strike lightning surges.
