A study of Fair Congestion Control Method for Terminal Groups with Wireless Random Access in M2M Network

Abstract(in English) Future M2M network is expected to accomodate socially important services such as telemetering and disaster sensing. For constructing the network economically, it is proposed to use wide-range wireless cell more than 1 km and accommodating several hundreds to sub million terminals sharing the bandwidth. We are proposing that minimum bandwidth shall be assured to the terminal groups used for such important services even if all terminals used for other services call simultaneously and keep retrying. However there is no study of controlling call traffic as a terminal group under such requirements and it is difficult to distinguish collision of random access (hereafter RA) call message and idle signal so it is also difficult to control RA traffic. In this paper a fair congestion control method for terminal groups is proposed, with this method RA collision and idle signal is distinguished using MAC layer information and the RA traffic and the data packet traffic are controlled.
