Experimental Evaluation of Distributed Array Antenna Controller for Earth Station onboard Vessels

Abstract(in English) We developed and tested "Prototype of Distributed Array Antenna (DAA) controller". This prototype employs to realize DAA's operational functions as "Transmit phase controllers". The proposed DAA system consists of multiple tracking antennas and an array controller. The DAA controller controls the phase of each antenna's transmitted signal appropriately to realize spatially in-phase combining at the satellite onboard antenna. This paper describes test results of the developed DAA controller and confirmed the phase drift within ±6 degrees caused by transmitting equipment, and direction-of-arrival estimation error within ±0.01 degrees. The overall phase drift meets the goal of within ±10 degrees translates to these results.
