Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Users' satisfaction level with information provided by systems such as search engines are different among users. Thus it is difficult to define the quality of information uniquely and quantitatively. In this paper we conducted an experimental evaluation that measured the subjective information quality of a query recommendation function in web search service and investigated the relationship between the subjective quality and the users' IT literacy. We define the users' IT literacy on a numerical scale based on a preliminary questionnaire on their usage habit of major IT services and then we selected two sample groups, one of which consists of users with high IT literacy and the other with low literacy. The obtained results show that the group with high literacy rates the suggested information higher compared to the group with low literacy. Thus we believe that this paper can be of some help to the quality control of query recommendation function.
