Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In recent years, a large number of floods accompanied by serious damage have occurred over all lands of Japan as secondary disaster being triggered by topical heavy rainfall and earthquake. In order to abate the amount of damage or injury, the importance of measurement instruments such as the rain gauge, the water level gauge, the flow rate meter are getting higher and higher. We have done research and development to apply an optical fiber sensor, which is reliable and does not require a power source, to those instruments. In this paper, we introduce our new flow velocity meter using the FBG sensors and the result of field tests by using it.
