Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Small DC motors are widely used in automobile fuel pumps. Generally, the fuel pump is installed in the gasoline tank, so the commutation of a coil current is carried out in the gasoline. Recently, car fuel has been changing gradually from gasoline to ethanol due to environmental viewpoint and the price rise of the gasoline. The authors have been investigating the commutation characteristics such as effective commutation period, arc duration et al in gasoline, ethanol and gas-ethanol mixed fuels so far. In this report, the fundamental characteristics of the commutation are investigated for the carbon flat commutator in methanol and mixed fuel and the results are compared with the previous ones.
