Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It has been reported that there are motion detection cells on both sides in fly visual system, which are mutually connected in a unique manner. However, little is known about the role of this mutual connection in visual information processing. Here, to elucidate the role of the connection, we constructed a model of recurrent network with formal neurons. By employing the stability analysis for the network model, we found that this model can form competitive network models with either bistable or triple-stable steady states depending on values of model parameters. Furhermore, by numerically calculating mutual information between neural responses and motion stimuli, under noisy conditions, we showed that neural sensitivity for characterizing stimulus coding is enhanced by the mutual connetion.
