Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The aim of this study was to examine acoustic changes and rhythm in vocal development. Infant speech sounds at 15, 18, and 20 months of age were analyzed with 22 bands of critical-band filter. The power fluctuation of each filter's output was calculated and submitted to factor analysis. The results showed that 3 factors similar to those of adults' speech appeared by 20 months of age. Further, Autocorrelation analysis of factor scores showed there were prominent peaks appeared in English-learning infants, compared to Japanese-learning infants at 15 months of age.
