Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order to evaluate arousal level in real-time, the characteristics of eyelid motion and saccadic eye movement while viewing a movie from a car-mounted view were investigated. Accumulative time(T_1) of eyes closed for 30sec increased prior to feeling strong sleepiness. Average peak velocity and amplitude of saccade declined gradually before the time of T_1. Our proposed method, which is based on the average peak velocity of saccade, could detect the oncoming sleepiness prior to T_1. These results suggest that eyelid motion and saccade could be available for gradual evaluation of arousal level.
