Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have shown the possibility of transillumination imaging of the arteries in the adult forearm as well as the veins. Using the change of absorption spectra of blood hemoglobin, we can expect to discriminate the arteries from the veins in the transillumination images. First, the validity of the proposed principle was confirmed in the measurement of the contrast change with the wavelength of light. We have developed a practical technique to visualize blood vessels with arteriovenous discrimination. The proposed technique was applied to the subjects with different ages and gender. The feasibility of transcutaneous imaging with arteriovenous discrimination was verified in experiments.
