Awareness Support of Relation between Exercises for Exercise-based Learning in Mathematics

Abstract(in English) In mathematical exercises, given equations are changed by several formulas in order to derive the solution. When studying mathematics using example exercise (example), some learners memorize all formulas used in example, while others find already learned formulas that are partially included in the given example and memorize only the new formulas. The latter learning method is effective, since the amount of memorizing is small and learners can consider the reason for applying the newly appeared formulas. The aim of this research is to construct learning environment which support learners of acquiring the latter learning method by making them generate exercise (sub-exercise) using equations in the solution of the example. By finding known formulas from example, learners are expected to be aware of relations between exercise and sub-exercises. In order to support such learning effectively, our environment contains the mechanism of generating advices if learners are not able to derive the sub-exercises. In addition, it provides examples in the appropriate order, by which learners can notice the relations easily.
