Learning Support System for Developing Presentation Skills Using Web : Learning Support by Peer Evaluation and Automatic Evaluation of Presentation Speech

Abstract(in English) Recently, presentation skills have become essential in many business situations, and a number of tertiary educational institutes have introduced presentation activities into classes. Feedback from the audience is very important in the development of individual presentation skills. However, time constraints make it difficult for a speaker to get enough practice time in front of an audience who can evaluate the presentation. Consequently, we have developed a learning support system to improve presentation skills by using the Web. Uploading presentation videos to the Web site enables peer evaluation, and automatic analysis of the video sound can analyze speech features. In this system, a user can see the evaluation of his/her presentation by other users and the features of his/her verbal delivery. More importantly, the user can also realize the process of improvement of individual presentation skills by repeated practice or modification. Enhanced presentation skills are developed because the learners can practice by following the changes in evaluation of their presentations in graphic form.
