Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) These years, online videos have come to play essential roles not only for entertainment but also in many serious situations, such as work, education and daily communications. Currently, however, there are almost no online videos that have audio descriptions, and it widens the digital divide between sighted and visually impaired people. A cost reduction for creating audio descriptions is the key enablers of a dissemination of accessible videos, and using Text-to-Speech (TTS) technologies to provide audio descriptions is expected to become one solution for it. The HTML5 specification will include native support for text-based audio descriptions that aimed to be read out by TTS, and this new generation Web standards will become a large step for effective and common use of TTS based audio descriptions. In this work, through trial distributions of audio descriptions by using HTML5 Working Draft, we introduce current situations and next steps of TTS based audio descriptions.
