Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this report, we propose a supporting system for visually disabled persons using a Kinect-equipped white cane. In our system, daily used objects are recognized from the depth data and accelerometer values obtained by Kinect. The recognition results are presented to the user (visually disabled persons) on demand. The objects include walking-floor, obstacles, chairs, and stairs to go up. The proposed method is applied to several scenes, and the experimental results are shown.
