Abstract(in English) | A transmitter in wireless communication requires high power-efficiency, high linearity, and low distortion. Envelope pulse width modulation (EPWM) transmitter with Δ-Σ modulation has a lot of attention in recent years to realize them. EPWM enables a high power-efficiency and high linearity by inputting a square pulse to its power amplifier. It also enables a reduction of a quantization noise on a desired signal band by a noise shaping at Δ-Σ modulation. The quantization noise shaped out of the desired signal band is reduced by a RF narrow BPF. However, a favored candidate for this is only a filter using piezoelectric elements which cannot change its center frequency and pass-band width widely at the RF band. This paper proposes the transversal-filter type of a power amplifier where switching operation amplifiers are inserted into each transversal filter tap. It reduces quantization noise and can change both a center frequency by varying its delays and a bandwidth by changing the number of its taps widely. The signal from EPWM with 16QAM is inputted to the amplifier and the outputs of each tap are combined by applying 180 degree hybrids. The performance is evaluated by calculating power efficiency, power spectrum density and constellations after the proposed power amplifier on computer simulation. Finally, it is revealed that the undesired signal power which is caused by the quantization noise is reduced with maintaining the power efficiency at the desired signal band as increasing the proposal amplifier's tap. And as a result of evaluating error vector magnitude (EVM) after quadrature detection, signals are not deteriorated by applying the proposed power amplifier. |
