Abstract(in English) The cooperative relay is a promising technique to increase the cell edge throughput. In our previous paper, we proposed an adaptive modulation assignment method for uplink single carrier (SC) 2-time slot cooperative decode-and-forward (DF) relay and showed that it can achieve the higher throughput than the fixed modulation combination method. However, the achievable throughput of 2-time slot cooperative relay is upper limited to half of the direct communication and thus, sometimes the throughput of the cooperative relay becomes lower than that of the direct communication. To avoid this, recently, we proposed a direct/cooperative relay switching transmission. In this paper, we apply the adaptive modulation method to direct/cooperative relay switching transmission. The transmission method and adaptive selection of modulation combinations are done so as to maximize the throughput. We evaluate, by computer simulation, the uplink throughput performance of SC 2-time slot direct/cooperative DF relay switching using the adaptive modulation assignment.
