A comparative study of Single Carrier receivers on MIMO frequency selective channels

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we compare the receiver structures for single carrier spatially multiplexed transmission on MIMO frequency selective channels. For the previously proposed SE (sequential equalizer) with MLD (Maximum Likelihood Detection) in which the cancellations of ISI (Inter Symbol Interference) and IAI (Inter Antenna Interference) are done in a time domain, we applied an M-algorithm to reduce the number of searches in MLD. We also used an LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) encoding to further improve the BER characteristics of SE with MLD, where the reliable LDPC decoded bits are fed back to the ISI canceller in making more accurate replica for IS 1 cancellation. This feedback is done iteratively. For uncoded transmission without error correcting codes, the BER performances and the receiver complexities are compared among SE with MLD, SE with M-Algorithm, MLSE, SC-FDE and SC-FDE ISI canceller + MLD. For LDPC coded case, we compared the BER performance among SE with MLD, SE with M-Algorithm, MLSE and SC/MMSE.
