Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In free-space optical communications, such as intersatellite or satellite-earth station communication, a quadrant detector (QD) is often used for tracking mobile optical transmitter. The performance of QD is deteriorated by background noise especially in case of low-power signals. We propose a method for improved tracking using a detector-array arranged on a hexagonal lattice structure. The method is based on the maximum likelihood path in a position trellis with a memory of path history. The number of detectors in the array is equal to the number of trellis states, which can be reduced by a tracking-trellis. Simulation results show that the proposed method improves the accuracy of position estimation performance.
