An Efficient Quadtree-based Image Coder with Predictive Set Partitioning

Abstract(in English) This paper describes an efficient wavelet coding algorithm based on quadtree partition. There are 2 main types of methods. The first type exploits a correlation of wavelet coefficients across subband. It only uses an interband correlation. On the other hand the second type exploits a correlation of wavelet coefficients within each subband. It only uses an intraband correlation. Our work focuses on quadtree-based image coder. In this type of method, there are many "partition bits" that indicate the need of quadtree partitioning. These bits are insignificant for image quality. Therefore wre integrate a novel method that is called predictive set partitioning into quadtree-based image coder and propose an efficient quad tree-based image coder with predictive set partitioning.
