Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The Slepian-Wolf coding problem is one of the most fundamental problems in the area of multiterminal source coding. In this coding problem, a pair of output sequences of two correlated sources are independently encoded, and a pair of sequences is jointly decoded from two codewords. As practical coding methods for Slepian-Wolf coding, Schonberg et al. and Stankvic et al. proposed methods using error correcting codes. Their coding methods have two special features. First, their methods can employ some efficient decoding algorithms for error correcting codes. Secondly, their methods allow to construct variable rate codes from one error-correcting code. However, they did not clarify the theoretical performance of their codes such as error exponents of the codes, or the rate region where the decoding error vanishes as the block length tends to infinity. This paper investigates error exponents of their codes, and clarifies rate regions.
