Abstract(in English) One of the power-saving scheme of network equipments is to control link transmission rate at output ports in switches/routers according to the amount of traffic on them since the power consumption of the ports increases as the preset transmission rate. Although the effectiveness of the scheme is shown in case where the tagged link is used for UDP traffic transmission, this would be result in degradation of the transmission performance where some TCP flows are accommodated on that link. Thus for TCP traffic, it is necessary that rate decreasing is done in a period with no data transmission on the link, i,e, in the idle time. Therefore in this paper, we propose the aggregation scheme of link idle time by delaying data transmission of TCP segments for an adequate period at pre-defined probability, to enhance the idle time for effectively saving power consumption of links. We investigate the impact of the delaying time and probability on both transmission and power-saving performance.
