Abstract(in English) Virtual machine live migration, which migrate a virtual machine between data centers, is studied as a way to improve quality of services hosted on cloud. Meanwhile, traffic engineering is performed on networks that connect between data centers. These two control approches are originally designed and operated individually. Though it is intuitive that performing both virtual machine live migration and traffic engineering integratedly outperforms performing each control individually, effects of integrated control on cloud computing and networks is still unclear. Therefore, we investigate effects of integrated control in this paper. We formulate integrated control based on mixed integer programming with average link delay as one example of objective functions. Through simulation experiments, we show that integrated control achieves at most 24 % smaller delay and accommodates 1.3 times more traffic than individual control in the case of the Intemet2 backbone topology.
