Throughput Improvement of Reliable Wireless Ad-HOC Communication by Higher Concurrent Transmissions

Abstract(in English) In an unreliable wireless networks, there are two reliable communication methods BEC (Backward Error Correction) with an error detection code and retransnissions and FEC (Forward Error Correction) with an error correction code. In BEC, bidirectional transmissions are required, i.e., data message transmissions from a sender node to a receiver node and acknowledgement message transmissions from a receiver node to a sender node. On the other hand in FEC, only one-way transmissions, i.e. data message transmissions from a sender node to a receiver node, are required. In a wireless network where message transmissions are intrinsically based on broadcast communications, reduction of interferences among neighbor nodes results in higher throughput of data messages. Thus, this paper proposes a novel reliable wireless communication method in which BEC or FEC is selected for provision of required reliability and achiving lower interferences among neighbor nodes. By the proposed method, highly concurrent wireless ad-hoc communications are realized with high reliability and high throughput.
