Abstract(in English) Data center is now widely used and its size and number are increasing. Meanwhile, its operation cost is rapidly increasing to 60 % over the total cost. Therefore, improvement of the operation is one of the main issues for data centers. So far the improvement has been focused on operation automation by introducing a management middleware. However, operation design is also a big issue since composition and maintenance of operation documents are time-consuming. In this paper, supporting technology that improves efficiency of data-center operations design has been studied by utilizing commonized operation parts. Existing operation checklists were analyzed to extract iterated patterns of operations in order for evaluating the technology. The evaluation results showed that common operations such as an operation on a management middleware and a remote log-in were extracted as operation parts. The number of checklist composition steps was reduced by 45 % on average and that of modification steps was reduced by 87 % on average by utilizing the operation parts.
