Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) According to the rapid deployment and expansion of wireless systems such as cellular mobile communications systems and wireless LAN, it is strongly required to utilize the limited frequency resources more and more efficiently. In order to introduce a new wireless system, it is necessary to allocate a frequency band for it, however, most of the frequency bands less than 6GHz are already assigned to the existing systems. Thus, either re-allocation of frequency spectrum or frequency sharing with existing wireless systems is indispensable for introducing such a new wireless system. Considering the above-mentioned backgrounds, this report describes a procedure to consider the frequency sharing issues and a few examples of spectrum engineering which were done for the purpose of introduction of 5 GHz band wireless LAN and public broadband mobile communications systems using VHF band. Furthermore, it describes a future perspective on frequency sharing issue.
