Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper reviews standardization activities in IEEE 802.22, which is developing a cognitive-based wireless regional area network (WRAN) standard. A purpose of the IEEE 802.22 is unlicensed use of vacant frequency spectrum assigned to terrestrial TV broadcast, so called "TV white space." The IEEE 802.22 working group completed the work of developing its main standard in July 2011. In this paper, an overview of IEEE 802.22 main standard and its detail function are described. Overview of IEEE 802.22.1 standard which specifies enhanced beacon to protect the low-power wireless devices is also provided. Ongoing activities inside the IEEE 802.22 are briefly introduced, and potential impact of IEEE 802.22 standard completion is discussed.
