| Abstract(in English) | This paper introduces a TV band device (TVBD) prototype developed for the Singapore TV white space (TVWS) technology trial (Singapore Trial). A draft regulation was issued by the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore to provide the required criteria for Singapore Trial. The challenges arising from the requirements and the solutions are presented namely from the viewpoints of spectrum sensing, database access, cognitive radio functionality and transmission functionality. Moreover, this paper shows official test results of Singapore Trial conducted by IDA for our TVBD prototype. The prototype has complete hardware and software design. It can achieve a detection probability above 0.9 with a target false alarm probability of 0.1 for DVB-T and PAL signals at level of -120dBm/8MHz, and comparable sensing performance for analog and digital wireless microphone signals; at the same time, it avoids high false alarm probability and maintains high detection probability when sensing a channel affected by adjacent channel interference. The prototype has database access capability and the database access design perfectly realizes the primary user (PU) protection rules made by IDA. It also realizes various cognitive radio functionalities and the Detect-and-Avoid time, which reflects how promptly a TVBD can act to protect a PU, has been constrained below 1 second. Finally, the prototype realizes burst transmission and the transmission meets a strict requirement on the out of band power emission. |
