Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For advanced human-computer interaction, recognizing subtle facial expressions is the important challenge. It seems to be effective to detect facial wrinkles because feature point information is not sufficient for subtle facial expression recognition. However, conventional spatial frequency analysis based method has the problems since the frequency and direction of target wrinkles are unknown. Therefore, we propose a new method to extract arbitrary wrinkle features by using empirical mode decomposition. By the experiment using database for facial expression recognition, we confirmed that the proposed method works well.
