Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, data traffic generated by mobile devices in 3G cellular networks has been substantially increasing, accelerated by the growth of smart phone users. Although Super 3G networks including LTE and WiMAX, or WiFi hotspots are being rapidly deployed to cope with these conditions, their coverage will be still focused in the areas with high traffic demand. Consequently, users who access these networks while moving tend to experience intermittent connectivity. Existing downlink scheduling schemes in wireless networks basically put emphasis on achieving fairness of average throughput or channel access time per user. With this policy, however, mobile users will always receive fewer amounts of data from base stations in these networks compared to static access users. This paper presents a novel scheduling scheme that adjusts bandwidth assignment in favor of mobile users than static users based on estimated users' mobility status, which is periodically reported from each terminal to the base station. Performance evaluation by simulation shows the proposed scheme can reduce difference in amount of data received between mobile users and static users.
