Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We attemped to inscribe refractive index modulated gratings in tellurite fibers to suppress the power of control light in an all optical switching application. A long period grating was inscribed in a tellurite fiber using picosecond pulsed Nd:YAG laser irradiation, where -12.6dB of attenuation peak was obtained in transmission spectrum. A tellurite fiber Bragg grating was fabricated using a two-beam interferometer with fundamental CW argon ion laser and an auxiliary heating with electric heater, where -1.67dB of attenuation peak was obtained in transmission spectrum. From the obtained transmission spectra, we estimated the refractive index changes as 0.125 for picosecond pulsed Nd:YAG laser irradiation and as 8×10^<-5> for CW argon ion laser irradiation and auxiliary heating.
