Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Plasma sterilization of medical equipments was performed by oxygen radicals generated by RF oxygen discharge. Oxygen plasma was produced by a large area RF antenna in a vacuum chamber. Sterilization of tiny gaps of the equipments was achieved by the pressure control of oxygen in the chamber for injection of oxygen radicals into the tiny gaps. Generation of oxygen radical was confirmed by light emission spectral line of OI at 777 nm from the plasma. Sterilization of AAMI PCD test pack was successful varying the gas pressure from 20 Pa to 500 Pa. Colony count method indicated that D value (decimal reduction value) for the bacilli on the surface of metal scissors was approximately 20 minutes.
