Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) When it comes to the real picture of disabled students studying at higher education institutions, the situation has been that for a long time there was not even so much as basic statistics regarding the number of students enrolled. In 2005, JASSO carried out factual investigations regarding learning assistance for handicapped students; as such, support for handicapped students abruptly gathered much attention. However on the other hand, there is also the point from parties involved that the actual reality faced by students with hearing disabilities when in the institutions is largely not understood at all. Accordingly, I engaged in interview surveys targeting students with hearing disabilities and students that support them. In this document, I will discuss the current state of support for students with hearing disabilities, and the adoption of supportive techniques and assistive devices, based on the knowledge obtained from my survey.
