Abstract(in English) A satellite laser communication, one of the satellite communication techniques providing high-speed and high-capacity communications, is drawing much attention as a new communications infrastructure. In the satellite-to-ground laser communication, forward error correction (FEC) is needed because the laser is influenced by some factors such as air scintillation, pointing and tracking error. The application of low-density generator matrix (LDGM) code which is a family of the low-density parity check (LDPC) code for the satellite laser communication has been proposed to improve the quality of transmission. Additionally, the multi-rate LDGM code which enables adaptive coding and its rate estimation algorithm have been proposed, too. However, its rate estimation capability is not sufficient in the conventional scheme. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new rate estimation algorithm and show the improvement of the estimation capability by computer simulations.
