Pulmonary Nodule Detection from X-ray CT images using Moment-of-Inertia Filter with Radial Suppression Filter

Abstract(in English) In this report, we propose a detection method of pulmonary nodules in X-ray CT images using several image filters. First, pixel values are suppressed radially to eliminate extra regions in the volume of interest. Next, moment-of-inertia tensors are calculated where the pixel values are regarded as mass, and then the likelihood that the center pixels are on nodules are calculated from the three eigenvalues. Finally, pixels are determined through several postprocessing. The proposed method is applied to actual CT images and the experimental results are shown.
