Abstract(in English) | In this report, we investigate the influence of the time it takes for a smell to reach a user on the fairness between users in a networked game with olfaction by QoE (Quality of Experience) assessment. As the networked game, we deal with a fruit harvesting game in which multiple users play in a 3-D virtual space. In the game, each user behaves as a fruit harvester or a harvest impeder. There are three kinds of fruit (grapefruits, bananas, and apples) which have grown to some trees in the virtual space. The smell of fruit is selected randomly from among the three kinds of smells. The harvester picks fruit and moves the fruit toward his/her viewpoint to perceive the smell of the fruit by using an olfactory display and judges whether the smell is in agreement with appearance or not. The impeder makes the harvester perceive the smell of another fruit by picking the fruit and moving it toward the harvester's viewpoint to interfere with the judgment of the harvester. Harvesters compete for the number of correct judgments. As a result of the assessment, we illustrate that the fairness is damaged when the difference in the time it takes for a smell to reach a user between users (the difference between the time from the moment a user picks fruit until the instant the smell of the fruit reaches another user and that from the moment the latter user picks fruit until the instant the smell of the fruit reaches the former user) is larger than about 700 ms. |
