Abstract(in English) The relay selection is an important issue in cooperative relay network. The optimal relay selection which maximizes the channel capacity needs exhaustive search. In this paper, we propose a relay selection method for the single-carrier (SC) cooperative amplify-and-forward (AF) relay using direct/cooperative relay switching and spectrum division/adaptive subcarrier allocation (SDAS A). In the proposed relay selection method, a predetermined number of candidate relay stations (RSs) are pre-selected according to the channel quality of the mobile terminal (MT) - RS link. The channel capacity of each of pre-selected RSs is calculated, and the RS which provides the maximum channel capacity is finally selected. The channel capacity of the cooperative AF relay using the proposed relay selection method is evaluated by the computer simulation, and the number of pre-selected RSs to be considered is discussed. It is shown that it is not necessary to consider all RSs in a cell in order to maximize the channel capacity.
